As with any decorating decision, it depends on where it's done, and how well the stencil is applied. Alphabet stencils would work well in a child's room or playroom, as well as a classroom. Make sure when applying the stencil that stencil lays flat, and the paint is carefully applied so it won't smudge or go out of the lines.

Yes, stencils of the letters of the alphabet do look good on walls. It is actually a great decoration for a baby or young child's room or a play room.

Yes,they look great. Make sure you get big enough stencils for your paint brushes to cover, or trace inside the stencil with a pencil and paint it in after. Use painters tape on the sides of the stencil so it is even and make sure that you use paint made for walls because that will ensure a long lasting design.
