Question by  suriya (23)

Do puppy training pads work?

Or do the puppies just miss the pads?

I've seen cases where puppy training pads are a success and the puppies use them faithfully, however I've also seen cases where puppies completely miss or ignore the pads. They can be effective if you train them to use them, but you might as well just do regular potty training if you have to do that.

The training pads are usually pretty large, the purpose of them is to train your puppy to go in a certain area. Start with the pad in the area that you are with your puppy the most, then slowly move the pads to the area that you want the puppy to go, indoors or outside, depending on where you want.

As with any house training method, puppy pads only work if you are consistent in placing your puppies where you want them to go frequently and praising for proper eliminations.

The training pad works in a great way, if you introduce your dog at an early stage of his life he can easily learn to use it. It's a simple way to teach good hygiene to your dog.

My mother had good success with these pads but it took a lot of patience. She kept putting her dog on the pad every few hours. He got the idea.

They work if you are persistent, if you catch the puppy going potty somewhere in the house try to put him on the pad, so he gets the idea.
