They can help with it for a short term basis, much like a mint could. They can reduce the immediate amount of bacteria in your mouth, which is what commonly causes bad breath. But the bacteria comes back withing a short time, brushing teeth and tongue is the best way.

Listerine strips do help to reduce bad breath, but only temporarily. Listerine strips still do not affect the root cause, plaque, tarter, and the plaque that sticks to the back of the tongue. The plaque on the back of the tongue is what typically causes chronic bad breath and a stench.

Listerine strips temporarily help reduce bad breath. If you want to keep your breath clean, you should brush your teeth and/or use mouth wash daily. If you want to go the extra mile, rinse your mouth out with salt. Salt is one of the best natural cleansers and will make your mouth smell fresher along with teeth brushing.
