Ionic foot baths are supposed to make your pH level more balanced by producing negative ions in the water, thereby changing your pH level and allowing your body to get rid of toxins. However, there are no conclusive studies as of yet which prove that this method is truly effective.

Ionic foot baths have many believers and just as many disbelievers. It really ends up being the opinion of the user. There is no real way to measure if it works or not. It seems to have a placebo effect if you believe in it it will work.

The basic concept is that you immerse your bare feet in a basin of tepid saline water. Electrodes are placed in the water. The process is supposed to draw "toxins" from the pores of your feet. These "toxins" color the water, and you can visibly see these things leaving your body. Unfortunately, they don't really work.
