No, you do not need to memorize your bank account number. The bank tellers prefer that you know it because it makes it easier for them to look up, instead of having to go through your social security number, or whatever other method they may use to find your account.

This can be considered proof that you are the account holder. If you do not know it, you should have a bank card that lists the account number that also has your picture and signature on it, such as a debit card or ATM card tied to that bank account.
