Do I need to remove water softener for fish aquariums?

Answer by  kirbyd (117)

No you do not need to. Most water you that you get from your home already comes with a pH balance that is somewhere near the neutral zone which is the goal for aquariums. So you should be safe.

You should otherwise the water will become way too soft for the aquarium. And the levels of acidity and the measure of the p.h. balance will slightly be altered rapidly.

You should be able to keep the water softener. To be on the safe side, you should consult the manufacturer of the product to confirm this.

Once you set up your tank and run it for at least 24 hours, all you should do is a simple PH test. Correct accordingly.
