It is always proper to send a gift even if you are not attending. If you are very close to the couple then I would suggest it, if not then you can get by without sending a gift. It all matters on how close you with this couple.

No, but a card is a nice gesture. If you attend the wedding you must send a gift.

Yes, you should certainly send a gift, although it can be less expensive than if you are attending the event. Appropriate items like a photo frame, a glass vase or a keepsake box are hard to value and strike the right note.

Yes, although it can be a less expensive gift than if you were attending the event. It would be very poor manners not to give anything at all, even in times like these. Something not easy to value, eg a photo frame, album or glass vase.

Under current and long-standing etiquette, you must send a gift if invited to a wedding. People never forget when you don't send a gift. Since you cannot see into your future, why look stupid and why take a chance?

You do not have to do anything if you do not want to, but it is appropriate and gracious to send a card and a gift. The gift does not have to be expensive, but the gesture itself is kind and will be appreciated.

It is proper etiquette sending at least a little gift, even on these times of economic woe. It's a way of saying thanks to those whom you send it.

What's a gift? It's something you give freely, with no strings attached, because you want to. You're never forced to give a gift, and if you give a gift out of obligation it's not a gift as much as it is a bribe.yes you shoul send a gift
