As far as I know in my experience there are very few bugs of any type that tolerate black pepper.

Black pepper can be used as a deterrent for many bugs. If you have problems with insects that enjoy munching on the leaves and plants in your garden, try sprinkling some black pepper on the leaves as many bugs do not like it.

Yes, some bugs especially seem to like black pepper. Mites and weevils are the first that come to mind. Now, there are other organic sprays that use pepper as a repellent, so it depends on the bug.

One bug in particular truly loves black pepper. They are Root Mealy bugs who have a tendency to infest black pepper plantations especially in India. Most garden bugs do not like black pepper and, in fact, you can mix black pepper with flour and sprinkle it in and around your garden bed to keep them out!

I do not believe bugs are attracted to black pepper. I have had salt and sugar or cinnamon spilled on my counter and if it was left there bugs would accumulate. but I have never run into a bugs huttled around any scraps of black pepper that may be on the floor or table.

I sprinkled black pepper in a trailer that sat for a while and it kept out bugs and mice for at least a few months

I found a bug in my black pepper mill from South Africa. Not sure whether it got in from a box of cereal nearby. It was in the upper plastic lid and i scooped it out.
