Could allergies in dogs cause bloodshot eyes?

My dog has bloodshot eyes all the time.

Yes, try using over-the-counter artificial tears first. But there are other conditions that should be ruled out, like high blood pressure, a scratch or infection. Does your dog ride in a vehicle with its head out the window? That could cause irritation and dry the eyes out. An outdoor dog could have been sprayed by a skunk!

It is commonly observed due to scratch or collison. They have third eyelids which if infected due to bacteria or other germs and sometimes due to some dust particle can also cause bloodshot eyes. Most of the times it should go away within few hours / days. If you continue to observe bloodshot eyes constantly for your dog visit your vet.

Yes but there could be other reason such as a change in your dog diet,household cleaning product or cleaning product for your dog,shampoo etc

Allergies in dogs can cause bloodshot eyes. This can also be normal, or a sign of infection, especially if the eye is draining fluid. You need to see a vet.
