Can you travel with an expired Canadian passport to the US by car?

Technically, you should always carry up-to-date identification with you when crossing any international border, and this counts for the Canada-US border. However, many border guards will forgive a recently expired passport and simply tell you to renew it at your next opportunity rather than preventing you from entering either country. I know this from personal experience.

Unless you have a really dumb border patrol checking, I'd have to say no. They put the expiration dates on the passports for a reason. Plan ahead and get your passport renewed!

The answer is no. Sometimes they can revoke your passport if you have six months left on it. Expired mean no.
