Can you help me troubleshoot a 1994 Ford Ranger that is running rough?

Rough running is most likely caused from your spark or ignition. Change all your spark plugs, replace your fuel filter, and change your wires. This will probly fix it.

You want to start with replacing the basics such as the spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, and oil change with oil filter. If you get no improvement then it's time to check more things like the fuel pump, ignition, elecrical components (PCM, ECM, etc.), and things of that sort. Still no improvement, take it to a shop.

Check these things, in this order: gas quality, fuel filter, air filter, idle setting, spark plugs, timing, fuel injectors, relative compression in cylinders, valves, rings, timing chain. Good luck.

have a mechanic check the plugs and plug wires to see if they are working properly. also check onboard computer.
