First make sure the problem you are having is not related to the DVD instead of the player, try to see if every movie that you play doesn't work. Verify also that your DVD is the right format for your player (NTSC, BluRay, etc.) Next ensure that all of your cables are connected to the proper place on the TV.

If your DVD player breaks, check all of the connections. Is the power cord plugged into the wall? Are the cables properly connected from the back of the DVD player to the TV? If so, check the settings on the DVD player - some allow you to change various features, and you should make sure they all apply to you.

You may not have selected your DVD code into your televison/cable system,or your cable box may not be turned on, or you need new batteries for ytour remote.

It depends on the malfunction. If the video isn't playing, make sure all of the cords are connected, and the DVD is clean. Also, make sure the DVD is compatible.

The best tip I can give you is to read your manual. This has all the troubleshooting tips and problems that will come up. If something isn't there then call the manufacture. People make a big mistake when they throw the box out they throw everything that came with it, like the manual.
