The 1120 is a good starter sewing machine for doing beginner projects or sewing light weight fabrics. However, many of the parts are made from cheap plastic and aren't very durable. If you are going to be doing any serious sewing you may want to opt for a higher quality machine instead.

When you're looking at a purchase like a sewing maching, Consumer Reports is a great place to start. They buy the item at retail and then give realistic reviews. Your local library may have an indes and a copy of the issue you want. Good Luck!

I've owned my Singer sewing machine for several years. It's a good basic sewing machine. It has two analog dials that allow you to set the stitch style and length. Keep in mind that it does not have the fancier options like an automatic button hole maker or digital display.

The Singer 1120 sewing machine is for beginners. It does not sew well on heavy fabrics, like blue jeans. Made of lightweight plastic, it's easy to carry around, but may not have the durability desired, although there is a 25-year manufacturer's limited warranty. Reviews are mixed; on eopinions, it received two stars out of five, with five reviews.
