When you book your appointment for Dental work make sure you tell your Dentist's receptionist that you're pregnant. It depends on what your doctor tells you but you may be able to get some work done. You just CANNOT have X-rays done on your teeth.

Most dentists do not use Novocaine any longer, they use other variations like lidocaine. These are local anethetics and are not only safe, but dental work is extremely important while you are pregnant. Poor oral hygeine can cause a miscarriage. You do need to avoid nitric oxide or laughing gas. Though not proven harmful, it does pass to the baby.

You need to make sure to tell your dentist of your state. However, I would think that with Novocaine being localized anesthesia you should be OK. Good Luck!

Novocaine is a local anesthesia, meaning it only affects a small area of the body, so it is probably safe to use for dental work. But be sure to tell your dentist you are pregnant when you are there. There may be other precautions they will take, especially if there is any emergency during your visit.
