Can the removal of a dead tree cause slime mold under new sod eight months after the tree was removed?

The slime mold is under the sod in area where tree was removed.

Here slime mold is common when some kinds of wood break down. If the site is well-drained, you shouldn't have a problem, but if the site is wet then this is very possible. It will take years for the tree's root system to break down. Nitrogen fertilizer helps speed the decomposition.these are the reason.
