It is illegal to sell a vehicle in the United States without the correct Vehicle Identification Number plate or sticker attached to the vehicle, even having a title and registration. However, most VIN plates/stickers can be ordered from the manufacturer.

The VIN number should appear on the title. It should also be placarded on the dashboard on the driver's side, so it can be read when standing next to the tire. It should also be on the registration--which is why I think you need it to sell the car.

You are not likely to get a reputable buyer without the VIN number, but it can possibly be retrieved from one of the many locations on the vehicle.

The vin is printed on the tile as well as located on several parts of the car. If it has no vin then it was removed to hide it's identity. You will never be able to sell it because anyone who looks at it will assume it's stolen.
