Can I keep a bullhead catfish in an aquarium?

I wouldn't do it. It may take up more space in there than you think it will and it needs a lot more space than that to survive comfortably. Try a salt water fish, they are more work but they are awesome to look at. A catfish just may not survive well in a tank.

They are very hardy and interesting fish and can be kept in an aquarium. They can grow up 18 inches though and will require a large aquarium. I would suggest at least a 55 gallon aquarium. They will eat smaller fish, so be careful when choosing tankmates.

You can keep bullhead catfish in an aquarium but you will have to make its environment as similar as possible to its native environment. The bottom of the aquarium can be covered with rocks and sand. Add some clumps of plants, some driftwood, and slightly alkaline water at room temperature. Make plenty of hiding places for your fish.

You could try to but chances are it would not survive due to the large amount of swimming space needed and the brackish type setup. It would be easier and cheaper to fill it with standard freshwater fish that way you have the food readily available. To keep a fish of this size you would need roughly 500 gallons.

Yes you can keep them,I had one, make sure you have a very good filter, they tend to dirty your tank. They love feeder fish.

Yes, keep in mind to put plants, keep the acquarium near a window for day ligth and to keep the water temperature between 18 and 22 celsius degrees.

Yeah they are good hardy fish. I have about 6 ranging from 1 to 3 inches, and a 2 inch bluegill. They all eat tropical flake, and minnows.

Yes, you could have one bullhead in a large aquarium (55 gal+) I caught a 4 in. baby and added it to my 95gal tank with about a dozen others. Fed it half a worm a day for years. He grew to about 10 in.+
