Migraines can begin as a dull ache but more times than not will develop into very intense headaches which include symptoms such as throbbing, nausea, and sensitivity to light. A constant dull ache in the head may be indicative of something else and could lead to cluster headaches if left untreated.

No, a migraine doesn't feel like a dull ache. What you probably have is a tension headache. A migraine is characterized by extreme, severe, even crippling pain. Light and sound sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness also accompany migraines. Tension headaches are dull, throbbing pains focused in a single part of the head, whereas migraines cause pain to the entire head.
