Are window units cheaper than central air?

Last year I made a full conversion from central to window units. Light bill went from $380 to $250 and in the inside temperature was 8 degrees lower. Windows units are more efficient that central air IF you're smart with them and manage each room efficiently.

Not if you are trying to cool an entire home, or large area. Overall, the central air will run way cheaper for the area it covers and produce much more comfortable results. The central air will also last longer mechanically in most instances, by this I mean it is much easier to replace freon in a central air.

Yes, of course, the window or split Air conditioner units are cheaper than the central air conditioning system which is costlier.

Yes window units are cheaper than central air due,because window unit is only for one room and the central air is for different rooms so which you need more energy and more power

Yes they are. However they are less powerful and it may actually use more energy to run a few of these rather than one central air system. Centrally air must be installed into the existing furnace and a technician must install and charge the system.

Window units are cheaper then central one when you purchaise but efficiency wise central air is better than window. which means initially you pay less to purchaise the window unit but you pay more every day comparetively to run it. So overall running of window unit is more expense then the central unit.

North central Florida. Central A/C power bill average $275/mo summer, $185/mo winter. Individual window units throughout house (5 units ranging from 6k BTU to 12K BTU) power bill (keeping home COOLER than with central A/C ALL the time) summer $148/mo average, winter $97/mo. Window units win, hands down!
