My son has Asperger's. Children within Autism spectrum who aren't high functioning are also enrolled in public schools. The quality of education really depends on the teachers. One school district we lived in really started making strides, and he was doing so well he advanced a grade. The other bombed.

There are schools that are designed to meet the special needs of students with specific learning problems, disabilities, etc. Public schools are required to accommodate students with autism. Beyond that, there are private schools that are supported by tuition, not government funding. These schools tend to be what most people would consider expensive, though many do offer financial aid.

I have found schools and camps around the country that do cater to these syndromes. You should find an association or parent's group in your area to guide you.
