Are Mexico medications as safe as those in the United States?

I have gone over to Mexico many times to get my medications and am concerned about their safety.

Mexico does not have the same level of medication tracking and consumer protection as the United States. Thus there is little recourse if you are sold diluted or even fake medicines. Even medications manufactured in Mexico are usually not to United States / FDA medical standards and may have dangerous additives.

You buying your medications at your own risk. They may be safe but if you encounter problems in the future, then you're in trouble. Better be safe than sorry.

Many articles claim that it is risky in that some of the less reputable manufacturers and pharmacies won't have any compunction about selling bad medications. The consensus seems to be that the companies sometimes don't even put the correct dosage amounts in the pills/capsules. There is no FDA to keep an eye out on them either!
