The most common centipede (the scutirgeromorpha), also known as the house centipede is not generally poisonous. The larger it is, the more painful the bite but on the whole they're not dangerous. Especially becoming adapted to house environments all over the world and not usually growing huge unless in tropics.

Some centipedes are poisonous. Not all of them though. The most common centipede that you will see in the United States is the Brown Centipede. They are generally non-agressive. Some of the larger centipedes' poisons can be harmful to children, but in general no harmful effects will occur.

most centipedes are poisonous, however, they are not fatal. just keep in mind that the bigger and more colorful the centipede, the more dangerous it is. they can have a powerful sting.
