Are cellphone SIM cards interchangeable?

Sometimes. For one, the phones need to use the same protocol (like GSM). Also, some networks specifically only allow the phones they select. Generally, if you buy a second phone from the same provider, you can put your SIM card into the new phone, but otherwise they aren't compatible.

Cellphone SIM cars are all the same size, but they cannot be switched from carrier to carrier. Each phone company programs the SIM card to only work with their network.

They are interchangable in phones with the same carrier. If you are trying to use it in a phone from another carrier you have to unlock the phone before the sim card will work in it.

Yes, cell phone SIM cards are interchangeable. If you have two SIM then you can remove one SIM which your not using, replacing it by the other SIM card. That will work for you or else you can buy dual SIM cell phone to avoid interchanging of the SIM.

Cell Phone SIM cards within the same carrier are interchangeable, but you cannot use a Verizon card in a Cingular phone.

If you phone is branded you may only be able to use a sim card from the same carrier. If you have an "unlocked" phone you can use any card.
