To a person with a severe nut allergy cashews, along with multiple other types of nuts can be very dangerous for them, even can cause death with them. If you have no known nut allergies and eat nuts regularly than cashews would be a nice healthy snack.

Cashews fall in the category of nuts and they are not poisonous. Cashews have a thick outer covering which contains a resin called urushiol. This substance gives a burning sensation when it gets in contact with skin and can be toxic when ingested.

If they were I'd be dead. I eat cashews everyday. Some people are alergic to cashews and they can bring on an asthma attack. But I have never heard of them being poisonous.
