Am I liable for an injury to someone cause by the neighbor's dog that escaped through the neighbor's fence that encroaches on my property?

The neighbor says it's my fault.

Yes, unfortunately the way that the laws are written anything that happens on your property becomes your responsibility. Even if someone breaks into your home and gets harmed while they are they the way the laws are written that person can sue you.

It is the owners responsibilty to restrange their own pets. They have to make sure that their animals are kept safe. This is for the animal's protection as well. You are not responsible for your neighbor's pet.

The owner of the dog is responsible, even if the dog was on its owner's property.

I would have to say no, because the dog escaped and ventured onto my property. If the animal is not posing a threat then it would be against the law
