A man was born in 1898 and he is still alive now at the age of 33? How is this possible?

The most logical answer would be he was born in ROOM 1898 of the hospital. Some would say that it has to do with leap years, but the math doesn't add up, at least for 2009. The question doesn't specify that 1898 is a year, but clearly states his AGE as 33. Misdirection is the key to a good riddle.

As i read the question i come across many stupid and lame possibilities. One of them is that this is year 1931.
